Lionsgate has just released the first trailer for its big hope of 2012, The Hunger Games, although as director Gary Ross has admitted, the fact that the film is still shooting limited the footage available to go into the clip. To wit, we get Jennifer Lawrence, in her lead role of Hunger Gamer Katniss, firing an arrow at her movie’s logo. Woo.
The Hunger Games is based on a trilogy of novels written by Suzanne Collins for young adults (or grown-ups who just have lazy reading habits). Very faintly derived from the myth of Theseus and the nine-yearly human sacrifice to the Minotaur, it is set in a post-apocalyptic America, renamed Panem, where the main source of entertainment is America’s Got Talent… no, wait. Sorry, it’s the Hunger Games, a televised fight-to-the-death, the teenage contestants of which are selected via a ballot.
One such contestant (known as a ‘tribute’) is 16-year-old Katniss (played by X-Men: First Class starlet Lawrence), who represents her district alongside Peeta (a role taken by Josh Hutcherson). Also featured amongst the cast are Elizabeth Banks as the escort of Katniss and Peeta, and Woody Harrelson as Haymitch, a booze-soaked former Games winner.
Directed by Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville), The Hunger Games opens in both the UK and US on 23 March 2012.Source URL: https://thatfilmgirl.blogspot.com/2011/10/hunger-games-teaser-trailer.htmlVisit Romantic Movies 2011 for Daily Updated
